Profile Information

Name:
Harry B. Cook
Relationship To InfoVoter Technologies:
Full-Time Employee
About Me:
Harry has a keen interest in election protection and election administration. His work with Ken Smukler led to the discovery of 40,000 missing absentee ballots in Broward County Florida – exposed on The Nightly News with Tom Brokaw – leading to the re-issuance of these ballots just days before the 2004 general election, and, more recently, to an April 9, 2008 US Congressional hearing investigating voting irregularities in Georgia and Maryland.

Harry has worked closely with Secretaries of State offices, State Boards of Election, the Voting Rights Division of the DOJ, county election administrators, advocacy groups and voters to identify both voting irregularities and best practices and evaluate performance levels of our strained and multi-tiered election system.

Harry sits at the nexus of media organizations that have included NBC News, CNN, The Tom Joyner Morning Show, and advocacy groups such as Common Cause, Voter Action, People For The American Way, The Reform Institute, The League of Women Voters and the NAACP-National Voter Fund, academic partners like the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Fels Institute of Government as well as technology subcontractors to build and operate with Ken and Dana the country’s largest voter hotline and election information system.

In addition, Harry’s work has been presented at symposia on election administration at the University of Pennsylvania and Princeton University. He has been quoted in, interviewed by or advised on background the Boston Globe, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Philadelphia Inquirer, Wired.com’s Threat Level, POTUS 08, MSNBC, FOX, American News Project, Philadelphia Citypaper and Alternet Foundation’s 2008 Voting Guide. Recently, Harry provided testimony in NAACP-SCP v. Cortes, a case relating to the issuance of emergency paper ballots due to voter access and voting technology problems in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that were originally documented and identified by the 866.MYVOTE1 hotline.

Since 2004, Harry has been InfoVoter Technologies' lead election administration analyst for all media outlets, and to a host of election protection and voting integrity organizations across the country. Harry is an AmeriCorps alumnus who served with City Year Greater Philadelphia and has been employed by InfoVoter Technologies since 2002. He is the firm's Senior Vice President.

Harry has a bachelor's degree in Political Communication from The George Washington University (1997) and a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania (2004) with a focus in urban studies and elections.

Harry lives in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Philadelphia with his wife Emmie Goldenbaum, their son Isaiah and dog Monty.
